Authorware (1987- 1991)
Authorware Inc. was formed in Minneapolis/St. Paul. From initial prototypes developed on both mainframe and very early personal computers, we first introduced a Macintosh-based authoring system called Course of Action and later developed a PC version. The name of the authoring system changed to match the name of the company. Authorware went on to become the first and most widely used industry-standard development tool. |

Macromedia (1992)
Authorware Inc. merged with Macromind ParaComp to create Macromedia. Macromind specialized in animation software (Director) and ParaComp specialized in 3D imagery. Macromedia went public only months after the merger and remains the leading purveyor of multimedia tools. |

Allen Interactions formed (1993)
Allen Interactions Inc. was formed by a small group of individuals to focus on two business strategies. The first of which was to provide high quality educational titles to the consumer market. To support this effort, Allen also provided consulting services to assist new adopters of eLearning. Today services include design and development, training, and consulting. |

Macromedia Training and Reselling (1993)
Soon after Allen Interactions was formed, Macromedia developed a Value Added Reseller Network. Allen became the leading reseller of Authorware for the next few years. It also continued to provide education to the market in how to use the tools and how to design effective solutions through its consulting services and classroom training. |

Titles released (1994)
Allen released CD ROM titles to the consumer market. The first was Breeze-Thru, a training CD on Windows 95 for the consumer market. Allen Interactions also released a series of children's titles on Math, the first of which was Just Ducky. |

Chicago office (1995)
Allen Interactions opened a Chicago office. With the demand for quality hand-on training for Authorware and other Macromedia products growing rapidly, Allen Interactions opened a learning center in Chicago. |

St. Thomas training center opened (1996)
In 1997, Allen formed a partnership with the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis and opened a state-of-the-art training center in order to provide additional training classes for the eLearning industry. |

Merger - Human Element (1997)
Allen developed a new growth strategy in the consulting and development business with Allen Interactions growing reputation in the market and its expertise. In order to scale quickly, Allen Interactions merged with the Human Element. |

Development of Studios (1997)
Allen reorganized its consulting services to better satisfy the needs of its customers. Allen organized its consulting group into studios. Each studio is like a small, independent business full responsible for its own goals, policies, staffing, and style while maintaining the Allen standard. |

Tampa Office (2000)
Responding to a strong and growing client center base in the southeast, a full-service studio was created at new Allen Interactions offices in Tampa, Florida. This is the home of Studio 11 and another training center. |

St. Paul Office (2001)
Allen opened a St. Paul office in order to better serve the Minneapolis, St. Paul market. It also was an effort to attract and keep high level talent by allowing individuals to avoid massive commutes. This ultimately also provides its clients with more availability. |

50 fastest growing companies 70+ employees (2001)
Continuing its strong growth, Allen Interactions was recognized by the City Business as one of the top 50 fastest growing companies in Minnesota. Allen's rank at this time was 46. |

San Francisco office (2001)
Keeping in line with its smart growth strategies, Allen opened a sales office in San Francisco in 2001 to establish a company presence on the West Coast. |

Dialog Coach (2001)
In 2002, Allen released the award winning Dialog Coach product. Using voice recognition and an award winning scenario-based instructional design, Dialog Coach is fast becoming a favored solution for sales and call center training. |

Once again, Allen Interactions was recognized by the City Business as one of the top 50 fastest growing companies in Minnesota, this time reaching a ranking of 26. |

Soon became the #1 selling e-learning book on Amazon.com and used by many in the industry as an invaluable, powerful, and fun-to-read reference tool. |
